Operation Round Up Scholarship Application

Operation Round Up is an innovative program providing financial assistance to worthwhile projects on the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. The organization is funded by participating members of South Plains Electric Cooperative who volunteer to have their monthly electric bill rounded up to the nearest dollar. Each participant contributes about $.50 per month into the Operation Round Up fund. With the help of our participants, Operation Round Up disperses funds for community projects, health care, educational scholarships and other worthwhile projects.

Purpose

The Scholarships provide financial assistance for qualified individuals who are seeking a college, university or technical school education.

Eligibility

The Scholarship is available to an entering freshman who is a member, or is a spouse, child or stepchild of a member, or child whose guardian is a member of South Plains Electric Cooperative and a participant in Operation Round Up. If you are not currently participating in Operation Round Up, you can sign-up within the application process or use the contact form to request sign-up.

The list of qualifying schools includes: Abernathy, Anton, Aspermont, Childress, Chillicothe, Coronado, Cotton Center, Crosbyton, Crowell, Estacado, Floydada, Frenship, Guthrie, Hale Center, Home-schooled, Idalou, Jayton-Girard, Lorenzo, Lubbock-Cooper, Lubbock, Monterey, Motley Co., New Deal, New Home, Olton, Paducah, Patton Springs, Petersburg, Plainview, Post, Quanah, Ralls, Roosevelt, Ropesville, Rotan, Shallowater, Slaton, Southland, Smyer, Spur and Wilson. If you are attending a private school, your application will be subject to verification of the school’s eligibility.

A minimum of 20 scholarships are available, each for $1,000, payable $500 for each of two semesters through the freshman year. Satisfactory scholastic performance and appropriate personal standards must be maintained for continuing eligibility.

Students must possess the qualities of honor, integrity, thrift and good moral character. The Selection Committee evaluates each student on grades, community and school activities, awards and honors, educational goals and financial need.

Scholarship Selection Committee

The Scholarship Selection Committee is the Board of Directors of Operation Round Up. All scholarship awards are at the discretion of the Scholarship Selection Committee.
