South Plains Electric is proud to make scholarship and financial aid programs available including Operation Round Up, Golden Spread Electric Cooperative Directors Memorial Scholarship, Texas Rural Electric Women's Association Scholarship and The Opportunity Plan, Inc. Educational Loans and Scholarships.

Operation Round Up Scholarship Application Deadline Has Passed

The Operation Round Up Board of Directors approved 20 scholarships at $1,000 each for the 2010-2011 school year, payable $500 for each of two semesters. Satisfactory scholastic performance and appropriate personal standards must be maintained for continuing eligibility.

This scholarship is for entering freshmen who are seeking a college, university or technical school education. You are eligible if you are currently a senior in high school (within the Cooperative's service territory) and are a member, spouse of a member, child or stepchild of a member or child whose legal guardian is a member of the Cooperative and a participant in Operation Round Up.

The application asks students to answer seven questions to the best of their ability. These questions will give the Selection Committee a look at the student’s character. All applications are presented without student names to the Selection Committee. They will know the student’s high school. The Selection Committee is the Operation Round Up Board of Directors.

Golden Spread Electric Cooperative Directors Memorial Scholarship Deadline - March 15, 2010

The scholarship is $1,200, payable $300 for each of four semesters through the sophomore year. The scholarship is available to an entering freshman college or university student who is a member, or spouse or child of a member, or child whose guardian is a member of South Plains Electric Cooperative. The scholarship was established by James T. Hull, Dwight Hutchison and Connie Gupton. The scholarship also honors the memory of Guy F. Kelley, Larry M. Lockwood, J.C. (Jim) Roberts and Weldon Gray, P.E. The goal is to provide financial assistance for qualified individuals who seek a college or university education.

Texas Rural Electric Women’s Association Scholarship Deadline - April 1, 2010

Texas Rural Electric Women’s Association (TREWA) is offering 12 scholarships, at $1,000 each, to current TREWA members and their children. You can join TREWA at the same time you submit a scholarship application. Dues are only $10. Applicants must also be a current member of South Plains Electric Cooperative. The objective of TREWA is to educate and create interest and understanding of rural electric systems and issues among the members and general public, and to present a unified front for the member-owned systems as they improve the quality of life in rural Texas.
