To better help the communities we serve and further South Plains Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up’s mission of neighbors helping neighbors, the Operation Round Up Board of Directors created a community grant program to help local non-profit organizations.

Thanks to our generous membership, Operation Round Up was able to give out $24,000 in grants to 19 local non-profit organizations.

Lubbock Impact TTUHSC Free Clinic was a 2020-2021 Operation Round Up Community Grant recipient. TTUHSC Free Clinic is a student-run, non-profit organization that provides basic healthcare services to the unemployed and low-income communities around the West Texas area.

A recent study showed that at least 20% of women struggle with being able to afford feminine hygiene products. These same women are left with no choice but to turn to other resources that could cause harm to their health.

“With this grant, we will alleviate the burden placed on low-income women by having feminine products available to them at no cost, upon request,” Elleana Majdinasab said. “We also intend to hold women’s health educational sessions in order to educate our patients.”
