South Plains Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up Board of Directors created a mini-grant program to help local teachers fund classroom projects or educational field trips.

Myles Hammack from Spur ISD was a recipient of a teacher mini-grant. Currently an instructor for horticultural sciences classes, Mr. Hammack used the grant money to purchase a freezer, an herb drying rack, suspending tomato bags and bags of gypsum.

As a result of the donation, Mr. Hammack and his students have sold over $100 in product at below-market value and donated over 20 pounds' of food to local non-profits and their culinary arts program at the high school.

Not only has the grant helped propel his courses and made running a greenhouse much easier, it has aided in the goal of feeding as many people as possible in their community.
